Vimpelcom Brings HD Video Experiences to Virtually Any Room in the House with Motorola Mobility’s Wireless Video Bridge

Motorola’s VAP2400 allows easy addition of multi-room High Definition TV, with no unsightly wires

Jan. 30, 2013

MOSCOW – 30th January 2013, at CSTB 2013Beeline TV subscribers are now able to enjoy their favorite TV shows virtually anywhere in the home, without the need for unsightly bundles of wires, with the introduction of Motorola Mobility’s VAP2400 HD wireless video bridge.

With more and more Russian consumers demanding the ability to watch TV away from the traditional living room setting, the uptake of multi-room TV services has been steadily increasing over the last few years. Historically, however, multi-room installations have required the use of unattractive cabling which, whilst possible to conceal, can create an all too familiar tangle of wires behind TVs and set-top boxes.

Despite the growing need, other wireless solutions have proved unreliable and expensive and so Motorola has designed the VAP2400 to provide companies like Vimpelcom with a cost-effective device that will deliver its subscribers a sparkling wireless HD TV viewing experience throughout the home.

Alongside Motorola’s VIP2262E compact, superior, HDTV IP set-top box, the VAP2400 streams high definition video over the Wi-Fi spectrum throughout the home to reach further and enable a better quality HD video viewing experience, even through thick walls. Furthermore, the easy installation and set-up process means Beeline TV customers can benefit from wireless video out of the box without having to wait for an installation engineer.

The combination of VIP2262E and VAP2400 also offers service providers the opportunity to develop new, more advanced IP HDTV services. The set-top box supports a range of IPTV features such as VOD and the development of intuitive electronic program guides (“EPGs”); allowing operators to expand their subscriber base, increase customer satisfaction and grow their average revenue per user.

“We are committed to giving our subscribers the very best TV viewing experience possible – without the need for complicated instructions, cumbersome hardware and lots of wires,” said Dmitry Lavrinenko, Head of IPTV at Vimpelcom. “Our customers tell us that they want to watch TV all over their homes in the home. This new set-top box and wireless bridge solution makes this possible and is very easy for customers to install. The VAP2400 also allows us to introduce a host of new IPTV services in a cost-effective way.”

Sean Kitchingham, Senior Director Sales, Northern & Central Europe at Motorola’s Home Division, said: “Motorola is committed to giving consumers the flexible and personalized viewing experiences they crave. We know that multi-room TV services are important to Beeline TV subscribers and so this game-changing innovation removes a lot of the cost and complexity associated with delivering a great viewing experience everywhere. As a result, Vimpelcom is able to differentiate itself in an extremely competitive market and increase customer loyalty.”
