John Bucher is charged with both building our successful strategy in the smartphone marketplace, and finding new opportunities for Motorola Mobility’s technology to meet customer expectations within the converging home and mobile devices markets.

He brings a unique perspective to this position, having seen the communications industry from multiple vantage points during his career. He spent more than a decade as a Wall Street analyst focused on wireless, cable, wireline, optical and satellite equipment and services.

Prior to his financial industry experience, Bucher held management positions with such companies as Bell Atlantic, NYNEX and other firms now consolidated into Verizon Wireless, one of Motorola Mobility’s largest customers. He began his career as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving for 11 years in numerous capacities.

Bucher joined Motorola in 2010. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from UCLA and a master's degree in telecommunications from the Naval Postgraduate School.
